Hope Bright Future

Hope Bright Future or HBF is a children's home that Transformed International has some sponsored children staying at. Every saturday we go to HBF to play with the kids and have lunch. It is something that I look forward to every time I come back to visit Kenya. As you travel down the dirt road to make your way to the home out in the village of Kiminini you know that there will be several sets of arms waiting to greet you warmly. Ben and Virginia are the house parents who are living there raising their own children as well as the 30 some children who call HBF home.
Virginia is the women in the photo below. I LOVE this lady. She is so kind and gracious. She spends all morning saturday cooking for us and for the children. Each week we have cooked cabbage, potatoes, rice and beans. I always know I will find her in the kitchen working hard. I have tried on a few occasions to assist, but I am too slow at doing everything. She laughs and allows me to fumble through the cutting and it gives me a chance to get to know her better. I recently found out she is 30 years old. She is pregnant with her second child, but is currently raising 30 some children. Can you imagine the love and the grace that must be on her life (and Ben's) to choose to live a life of such selflessness? Living in a home and loving each one of those children as if they were their own. I continue to be amazed by some of the people I encounter here in Kenya. I have so much to learn from Ben and Virginia about how to love, how to trust, how to serve!!

These are just a few images of the little lives who have hope, joy, and lots of LOVE!!
